Work Experience
2006 – present. Research scientist. Western Kentucky University.
Research:
Animal waste (poultry litter) management.
2001-2006
Graduate Research Assistant, University of Georgia and USDA-ARS-National Soil
Dynamics Lab.
Research: Site-specific characterization,
spatial variability analysis and finite element modeling of sub-soil compaction
2000-2001
Graduate Research Assistant, University of Wisconsin, Madison.
Research: Animal waste (dairy manure) management.
1996-1998
Graduate Assistant (Soil and Water), University of Asmara, Eritrea.
Teaching: Soil and Water Analysis Research: Land and water management projects.
1993-1994 Engineering Assistant, Conservation practices management for erosion
and sedimentation control
Ministry of Agriculture, Eritrea (Internship).
Research Interest
My main areas of interest are precision agriculture and GPS,
real-time measurement and modeling of soil parameters, and soil management.
With the increasing needs on bio-energy production, I am also interested to
apply my knowledge on engineering mechanics in mechanical characterization and
physical alteration of feedstock materials to minimize material handling,
transportation and storage costs.
